As much as I love making little kids squeel and run away, Oliver has advised me to keep it cute. I think these Vanilla Mummy Madeleines fit the bill. They’re so adorable they surely won’t scare the kiddos away. Not like these devils. Or these guys.

Chocolate Witch’s Cauldron Cupcakes

Chocolate Spider Nest Bundt Cakes

Miniature chocolate bundt cakes covered in a hard chocolate ganache shell, then smothered with melted marshmallow spider webs. The perfect little home for a friendly little chocolate spider!

Blogging this October has been so much fun! Halloween and all her spookiness has sparked my baking imagination. First came the Ferrero Rocher Spiders which turned into Chocolate Tarantula Cupcakes, and then my Monster Strawberry Cupcakes (my favorite so far). I’m a Christmas girl through and through, but I gotta say I’m kind of sad to see Halloween go. There’s only a little under 2 weeks left of October and it will all be over.

These little Chocolate Spider Nest Bundt Cakes were incredibly easy to make! A tiny bit messy, but if you have little kids they would have a blast getting their little hands dirty with you. It’s the perfect fall kiddie afternoon project, and the end result is edible. Win win!

When I mean messy…I mean messy. But all in good fun! I got the idea from The Cake Blog. You just microwave the marshmallows for 30 seconds and stir until they’re cool enough to touch. Then just stretch thin strands all over the little cakes. Easy!

Last week I posted a super easy and adorable tutorial for these Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Spiders. I made my favorite chocolate cupcakes and topped them with the hairy coconut chocolate spiders. My son Oliver, who has inherited my really crazy, borderline ridiculous obsession for chocolate, still would not go near these guys. I guess no matter how delicious something is, if it has eight legs you squeal and run away. And that’s exactly what my four year old did. I just shrugged and ate his cupcake.

Nutella Pumpkin Cupcakes

So lately my blog has taken a delicious turn into pumpkin land. As I giddily skip into its yummy paradise I’ve left my sad little husband behind. You see, my husband HATES pumpkin flavored anything. When Monday rolls around and he eagerly asks what I’m making for the blog (Monday is my bake like crazy, non-stop oven burning, chocolate melting, caramel drizzling day) and I reply,

“…something pumpkin.”

I can actually see the happiness leave his eyes.

But don’t feel sorry for him yet. I always make it up to him and make something he really likes. Like these. Oh, and these. But let’s get back to what I imagine is served at every corner patisserie in pumpkin land…Nutella Pumpkin Cupcakes. I used my favorite pumpkin cupcake recipe which always comes out perfectly moist and fluffy, and topped them with two types of amazing buttercream because well, I couldn’t decide which one! I think that’s why I love making cupcakes. It’s my outlet to go wild.

On the way home he bit straight through a tootsie roll wrapper because his anxious little fingers couldn’t unwrap it in time. He’s just like his Mamma.
