Will you look at that. That glistening chocolate ganache pouring down the sides of the best cake mix bars you will ever eat. Yes! These bars are from cake mix! Pecan pie is one my favorite desserts during the holidays. Notice that it’s usually gone before the pumpkin pie? At least when I’m invited to the party. Especially if it’s made with chocolate chips.
I hate to start this post out with a rant, but I’m kind of grumpy. Everything I’ve put in my oven apparently is suicidal, it’s raining like freaking Vancouver, and I stepped on a Lego about five minutes ago. Seriously, the Lego peeps need to round down the edges of their treacherous little building blocks. I’m going to write a strongly worded letter after I furiously compose this post about these Red Velvet Oreo Brownies. I know everyone envisions their favorite red velvet desserts drenched in cream cheese frosting. Well, forget about that junk. I’m taking red velvet to the dark side.
I feel the blackberry doesn’t get enough love. If your’e not a fan I suggest you grab a big bowl. Fill it with fresh blackberries. Melt some dark chocolate. Drizzle said chocolate all over the berries. Put the bowl in the freezer for about…ummm…3 minutes. Take that bowl out and put an obscene amount of whipped cream on top. After that first bite I promise you will become a blackberry fiend.
Dark chocolate brownies cut into little Jawas and filled with peppermint dark chocolate ganache. Don’t forget the cute candy eyes for these Peppermint Jawa Brownies! These are irresistibly adorable and easy!
Things just got real folks. Christmas is so close! Only 33 more sleeps until that glorious morning is here! Yes, I am using way to many exclamation points right now, but I’m super giddy. The season has definitely started, evident in the fact that it took me 15 minutes longer to find a parking spot at the mall, and peppermint is everywhere! I tried to hold on to the pumpkin and sweet potato for as long as I could, but I’m just gonna give in.
Lately my son has been asking me to make something Star Wars again. Oliver is smitten. The first words out of his little mouth every morning are “Pew Pew Pew”. You Star Wars geeks will know exactly what that is. So to appease him, and my Christmas craziness, I made these Peppermint Jawa Brownies. Jawas are kind of the Christmas elves of Star Wars, right? You might be thinking…Star Wars and Christmas? Eh. Well let me give you this link: Star Wars Holiday Special. It will explain everything. If you ever get a hold of the footage, you might feel a little uneasy. It’s that bad. So bad it’s good.
Perfectly sinful deep dark chocolate cupcakes with whipped chocolate ganache. Grab a cup of milk because these are super rich and super chocolaty!
So let’s get back to what matters in this world. Chocolate. Yes, I know…You’re thinking this is just another recipe for boring chocolate cupcakes. Let me just say, this is chocolate people! Chocolate is awesome!
Sorry, this is a sensitive subject for me. I get a little passionate sometimes.
These are definitely not boring. They taste like the moist center of a dark chocolate brownie, but ingeniously packed into a little cupcake. That, ladies and gentlemen is enough to get me giddy and ready to bake! Chocolate ganache is whipped into a lovely light frosting to give the perfect amount of sweet and fluffy texture in each bite. Even though I’m raving about how rich these are, they won’t suffocate your face with chocolate flavor. You can have one without milk and still breathe. Although, suffocation by chocolate sounds awesome. But that’s me.
