The iconic caramel slice redressed for Valentine’s Day with a chewy red velvet base, a dreamy caramel center, and topped with dark chocolate, chopped white chocolate, and cute little red heart sprinkles. This Red Velvet Caramel Slice is way better than a box of chocolates!
I know lots of people don’t particularly look forward to the dreaded V-Day. Let’s look at the perks though. Chocolate. Red Velvet. Cheap cutesy pink and red candies. Champagne. Oh, and chocolate. I know I mentioned chocolate already, but…chocolate. I like Valentine’s because it distracts my brain from realizing my birthday was the day before and now I’m one year older. Ughh. It helps to gorge on copious amounts of champagne and sweets. Which is why I’m excited to dig into this huge slice of Red Velvet Caramel Slice.
Single serving dark chocolate fudgy brownies baked into a buttery graham cracker crust and then drenched in salted caramel. The sweet banana slices on top finish these Miniature Banoffee Brownies.
Raise your hand if your’e a lazy baker. Anyone? I can’t be the only one, right? It sounds silly but sometimes I feel mixing brownie batter can be a little too labor intensive. Even the one bowl kind without melting chocolate. After reading that back to myself, I just realized I’m a lame-o. It’s time to amp things up with these Miniature Banoffee Brownies. But not too much amping people. I’m lazy remember?
Soft and chewy apple spice oatmeal cookies sandwiched with brown sugar and cinnamon buttercream frosting and drizzled with salted caramel. Think of the perfect caramel apple pie you can eat with your hands!
It’s cookie swap time people! I’ve only been to one cookie swap party which was back home in the states. I really wish I had participated in more because now that I’m living overseas in Dubai I haven’t heard of anybody doing that sort of thing. I think they’re too beautiful and fit to be swapping dangerous and decadent cookies between one another. I’ve done a cookie swap through the mail before, so I thought that would work until I remembered it costs about 75.00 to ship a box to the U.A.E. Whoever gets stuck with me would probably sneeze all over my cookies.
I haven’t hit the peppermint craziness yet. I’ve still got apples and pumpkins on the brain. That’s why these Caramel Apple Cookie Sandwiches are perfect for a cookie swap party. There’s always someone in the group that’s a little too stubborn to let go of Fall. So while the tables are full of chocolate peppermint meringue cookies and red and green sugar cookies, these cookie sandwiches will be sure to stick out. Plus, salted caramel. I would be grabbing anything with salted caramel drizzle. I used my Apple Pie Cupcakes as inspiration for these cookie sandwiches.
A gooey Upside Down Caramel Apple Spice Cake to start the Fall season right. It’s your favorite retro cake with a spicy Autumn apple makeover!
You guys, I’m a little sad. I think it has finally hit me that Dubai will never “feel” like Christmas. If you don’t know, I live and breathe Christmas. Many of my friends and especially my husband know my secret. I break out Ella Fitzgerald’s Swinging Christmas and Dino’s Christmas as soon as July hits. I told you I’m crazy! Well guys, I can say Dubai has finally broken me. It’s September and the sugar plumbs haven’t even crossed my mind. It’s hard to feel cozy about the holidays when the temperatures are steadily hanging in the low 100s. And the sand. It’s everywhere. It’s like living in Tatooine! I think Norman (my kid’s Elf on the Shelf) is probably thinking “Where on Earth have you taken me?!” We are about to have a serious pow wow soon. I need his advice on this one. He is an elf after all.
Amazing thick and chewy peanut butter bars with an apple cinnamon streusal and salted caramel drizzle. If you adore apples smothered in peanut butter, these Apple Peanut Butter Bars with Salted Caramel will be your new best friend.
How can I make a healthy snack of apples and peanut butter into a completely decadent and insanely delicious not so healthy dessert? That may or may not have been my thinking while developing these bars. It’s okay though. I eat these in my gym clothes so that I can run straight to the gym and work off the calories after pigging out. It’s my system and I stand by it. By the way, these Apple Peanut Butter Bars with Salted Caramel are totally worth running those extra miles on the treadmill.
Soft banana cake littered with dark chocolate chunks and walnuts while swimming in salted caramel. What’s not to love? Turn those brown bananas into a lovely Chocolate Chunk Banana Caramel Poke Cake!
Everyone knows not to grocery shop when you’re hungry. We all do it anyway and end up with a cart load of food we probably will never get around to eating. You also shouldn’t grocery shop with a two year old, regardless if she’s hungry or not. Every time I’m in the produce section, she’s super excited to see those bright yellow bananas. “Bananas!”, she always squeals when she rides by them. Will she eat those bananas? Nope. Does she scream if you don’t put them in the cart? Yes. It’s okay though, that means plenty of opportunities for baking this Chocolate Chunk Banana Caramel Poke Cake. You would be squealing about bananas too.
My favorite chocolate chip cookie kicked up a notch with a messy drizzle of gooey caramel and a generous helping of crushed Maltesers Candies. You’re welcome.
You know what’s super terrifying in Dubai? Not the camels that have been known to bite fingers off, or spread MERS among happy and oblivious tourists. It’s not even the 12 types of venomous snakes found here. It’s the insanely dangerous drivers.
Here’s a scary fact: Everyday an average of 2 people are killed on the roads here. Everyday!
When I first started driving here I literally had to pack extra pants from all the “Omigod, he’s coming into my lane and I have no where to swerve!” moments. Don’t get me started on their roundabouts. Please for the love of God, send some Dutch people over here to teach everyone how a roundabout works!
Vintage southern charm in a cupcake Ya’ll! Salted Caramel Hummingbird Cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting, buttery salted caramel drizzled on top, and candied pecans.
I know just six days ago I posted a recipe for Hummingbird Coffee Cake, and I was totally going to wait to post these cupcakes. You know, to let you guys breathe a little. Well, get ready. I’m going to smother you some more with my latest Hummingbird cake obsession. You can thank Southern Living circa 1978.
This post is taking much longer to write than expected. I probably should have been done an hour ago, but I’m watching a guilty pleasure on Bravo. My usual go to trash tv program is Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I’m caught up on that, so I’m on to Vanderpump Rules right now. It’s a train wreck! I. Can’t. Stop. Watching.
My favorite chocolate chip cookie full of Violet Crumble pieces, smothered with salted caramel and topped with more crushed Violet Crumble. It’s the perfect combination. Just ask an Aussie.
Now, I know that Caramel Violet Crumble Chocolate Chip Cookies is an obnoxiously long title for a little ‘ole chocolate chip cookie. I get it. You’re probably thinking, “why not paste with Fleur del sel on the end while your’e at it?” Well, smarty pants…it’s already mixed in the salted caramel. 🙂 These cookies are so good they deserve that extra long title. They’re so good that even if I ended up naming them Ebola Cookies, you’d be raving about Ebola Cookies to all your friends and not even care. Too soon? Too soon…
Caramel Potato Chip Brownies with only six ingredients! Salted caramel drizzling down warm from the oven brownies and topped with crunchy, salty kettle cooked potato chips. Being bad never felt so good.
And…this just happened. I know what you’re thinking. Are the potato chips and that ungodly amount of thick, salted caramel necessary? Yes my friends. It’s totally necessary. So if you call yourself an American, it’s very necessary. A couple weeks ago I posted about this Skinny Deep Dish Cookie Pie. It was low-calorie, skinny, and it hit the spot. It also had an ingredient that terrified me, but then it blew my mind after that first bite. Now that February is coming, it’s time to roll out some crazy indulgent desserts. Like these trashy Caramel Potato Chip Brownies. You know you want it…
