Fluffy and light, extra lemony scones drizzled with the most perfect fresh strawberry glaze. These Lemon Scones with Strawberry Glaze are the perfect pick-me-up in the morning!
I always feel like I’m trying to give up on my first love. Coffee. It’s hard guys. That smell of fresh brewed coffee with my favorite creamer…I’m done. Even though you mess with my skin and give me the jitters, I just can’t quit you! Whenever I’m on that “down with coffee” kick, I always reach for my second favorite hot drink. The good ‘ole Earl Grey standby. With cream of course. I’ve been trying all sorts of teas lately so I’ve been feeling totally British.
So what goes best with a nice cup of tea? These Lemon Scones with Strawberry Glaze of course! I know you saw that coming. So if you want to feel perfectly British, grab your favorite tea and make these scones. They’re incredibly tender and have the perfect lemon bite to them. My favorite part is that crunchy top from the sprinkle of sugar right before baking.
A gorgeous Greek pastry made with layers upon layers of delicate phyllo dough and vanilla bean custard. Bright green pistachios and amber honey make this one elegant pastry!
What on Earth is a Bougatsa? I came across this funny sounding Greek dessert while hunting some inspiration for my next post. Low and behold was this absolutely gorgeous rustic masterpiece on Phoodie. At first glance, my thoughts were…”Well, this looks like it’s going to take some effort. Let me think of every excuse imaginable so I don’t have to get off Pinterest…” I checked out the ingredients and method and was shocked to see how simple it was!

I hope everyone is ready for a fabulous New Year’s Eve! I’m going to live vicariously through all the cool kids tonight. First of all, I’ve never been able to stay up past midnight. Don’t think that’s because I’m a parent, or old, or have two early to bed kids. I’ve been that way since my 20’s. It’s so sad! I blame it on my old soul. Secondly, I do have two little kids who can’t seem to keep it together past 9. In our house 9 P.M. is the witching hour of tantrums, whiny little voices, and utter melt downs. So every New Years Eve it’s hot chocolate, a cozy blanket, and the good old fashioned New Year’s countdown from my quiet little television.
Rich dark chocolate and Oreo cookies married with a soft and fluffy muffin. Make your mornings sweet with these Oreo Double Chocolate Chip Muffins.
You know what I love about muffins? Muffins are extra large cupcakes that can be eaten for breakfast. AND they come with no judgement. If its eaten between the hours of 6 and 11 in the morning, extra large, and void of frosting…no one cares. No one gives dirty looks. It’s breakfast. Chocolate chips and all. I once saw a red velvet smore’s muffin at a local coffee shop. That my friends is my kind of breakfast. #breakfastgoals
These muffins bake up super fluffy and soft with just the right amount of crunch from the Oreos. Not to mention, they are insanely easy and quick to make, so don’t you worry. You’ll be stuffing your face in no time. It’s okay though. It’s breakfast remember? First meal of the day, so make it count!

One of my best friends Jennifer came to visit me from Florida last week. We did all the Dubai things I was too afraid to do on my own. Like brave the chaotic streets of the Old Dubai Souks in Deira. She is pretty much like me when it comes to shopping. Our motto to every store employee or shop owner is “Don’t talk to me”. I’m not sure if that’s an American thing or a I don’t have any idea how to haggle thing. Our first mistake we made was arrive hours before the shopping rush. No one was there but the little shop salesmen. Is that what they’re called? Imagine Agrabah from Disney’s Alladin on steroids and the only customers are two scared white girls who don’t want to be talked to. Every salesman was on us like flies on a date.
A yummy and moist Apple and Sweet Potato Clafoutis with all the flavors of your favorite holiday pies. Full of beautiful spiced apples and sweet potato, its the perfect addition to your morning coffee.
I’m freaking out right now guys. Its only a couple days until October and I have not been able to get my hands on any canned pumpkin. In the land of Dubai where the rose water is flowing and all the spices known to mankind reside, pumpkin puree is very difficult to come by. Don’t they realize that white girls NEED pumpkin?! They have freaking durian fruit. The fruit that smells like hot week old garbage. But no pumpkin yet. So I’ve been using sweet potato in place of pumpkin until I can find some.
Flaky pie crust filled with creamy ricotta, tart cherries and sweet apricots. This rustic Apricot and Cherry Ricotta Galette is my favorite lazy pie.
Our family just got back from an amazing road trip vacation in Europe. One German car, two small anxious kids, one big college bound kid, and two crazy parents. Don’t worry though, we were already crazy before the vacation. We started in Frankfurt Germany and drove to Europa-Park in Rust, which is one of the most amazing theme parks I’ve ever been to. Next, we drove to a small French town in the country and visited Nigloland. This was another European theme park and definitely one of my all time favorites. It was quaint, gorgeous, and wonderful for little kids. My husband’s coworker’s family owns the park, so they set us up in a cute little hotel room in the park. We slept inside the theme park, right under the Ferris Wheel! Who can say they’ve done that?
Soft cinnamon sugar cupcakes with a hidden surprise! A luscious croissant baked right in the cupcake and topped with cinnamon cream cheese frosting. These Snickerdoodle Crupcakes are easily my new favorite mash-up dessert!
I’m so excited about these. Yes, I often get excited about baked goods, but these are awesome! Think of a soft snickerdoodle cookie combined with a buttery croissant, then smothered in cinnamon cream cheese frosting like a cinnmon roll. Best breakfast ever, right?
I’ve always loved the idea of hybrid desserts or dessert mash-ups. There’s of course the coveted cronut, the cruffin (burglars even broke in and stole the recipe!), and also the Brookie. I even morphed sweet potato pie into baklava. It was a memorable experience. Just a quick shout out…one of my favorite bloggers wrote all about mash-ups.
